Specialist Robert D. Lund was born in Centrailia, Washington, Nov. 19, 1979 and graduated from W.F. West High School in Chehalis, Washington. He began his service to the Nation in 1997 when he enlisted in the Army Reserve. He entered Active Duty in 1998.
He completed Advanced Individual Training (AIT) as a 68J Armament and Electrical Systems Repairer at Fort Eustis, Virginia on December 4, 1998. Upon completing AIT, SPC Lund was assigned to D CO, AMC (82nd AVN BDE) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While assigned to Fort Bragg, SPC Lund served a tour in Bosnia from March 13, 2001 thru Oct.1, 2001.
In June 2003 SPC Lund was assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) at Fort Campbell, KY, and completed the Special Operations Aviation Training Company "Green Platoon" training in August 2003. Specialist Lund was assigned to B CO, 1/160th SOAR (A) “SIX GUNS”, where he served as a member of the B CO Armament “Dawgs”. While assigned to B CO, SPC Lund again answered the Nation's call to duty by deploying in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM from Dec. 4, 2003 thru March 12, 2004.
SPC Lund was a graduate of the Army Airborne Course, the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) Level C Course and the Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) Course. His awards include the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Father, David J. Lund of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Mother Catherine
M. Johnson of Chehalis, Washington.
