CW2 Jody L. Egnor was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on 20 October, 1969. He enlisted in the Army in August, 1988 and served as a UH-60 Blackhawk crewmember and maintainer until attending warrant Officer Candidate School at Fort Rucker, Alabama in 1995. He graduated from Warrant Officer Candidate School in August, 1995 where he proceeded to the CH-47D aircraft qualification course. CW2 Egnor was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served as a CH-47D pilot and Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) Officer, from March, 1997 to June, 2000.
He assessed for the Night Stalkers in May, 1999. Upon completion of the Special Operations Qualification course, he was immediately assigned to Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). He was then assigned to Echo Company, 160th SOAR(A), Republic of Korea, where he was selected by name to fill a pivotal role, because of his ALSE and Night Vision Goggle expertise. He served as a MH-47E Fully Mission Qualified, Pilot in Command. He deployed with his unit to multiple locations across the Pacific Command in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
CW2 Egnor's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Army Aviator Badge and Air Assault Badge. He was rated in the UH-1, CH-47D and MH-47E.
CW2 Egnor was married to Janet Egnor of Newport News, Virginia.
